Featured in Today's Bride Magazine: Nita Lake Magic: Covid Edition

Today is a very exciting day because we are featured on Today's Bride, Canada's Largest Bridal Magazine! I wrote a little blurb about this for the post already so I won't go into much detail but this is the link for the feature: https://www.todaysbride.ca/articles/puppy-love-a-whistler-real-wedding/. Please take a look when you have the chance :).

I absolutely adore Nita Lake Weddings! The time away from the busy life in the city to do what I love is a huge treat for me. I usually go up the night before for the rehearsal and take the time to look over the space and details for the next day. Whether it's a bright, warm day or a chilly wet one, any type of weather will work at this venue fine and photos will always always come out perfect. There is a large abundant of options around Whistler for photos - mountains, lakes, fields, woody areas, hidden paths, all of which can be great photoshoot locations for the First Look and in between the ceremony and reception.

The morning of the wedding was tranquil and bare. I woke up, grabbed a coffee and went straight to the location to set up for the ceremony. Divine Decor did an amazing job as always setting up the arch on the rocky floor and the flowers looked so pretty with the puffy blooms and ivory and coral colours. We set the 20 or so chairs up shortly after and distanced them enough according to the guidelines, ensured there was enough sanitizer bottles around the space, and rolled out the carpet aisle runner at the end. Once the harpist wheeled out her beautiful golden instrument and began delicately strumming the strings with her fingers, we knew it was going to be an incredible day.

Set up inside the restaurant was a little more chaotic and I laugh at myself when I think back to this moment. The couple had rented a speaker and stand for me to set up. Little did I know that the speaker would be so gigantic and bulky! I had the time of my life trying to lift this thing up and down several times while trying to figure out ideal locations of where to set it up at. There was one embarrassing moment when I had not fully extended the speaker leg and the speaker came tumbling down on me but that can be another story to tell..

An amusing tradition that I learned from this wedding was the Sapatia ceremony - This ceremony centres around small clay plates (called sapatia) filled with lentils; symbolizing abundance and bounty, silver; symbolizing wealth, sugar; symbolizing harmony, and turmeric; symbolizing good health. Two plates are placed in front of the couple and they each must break the sapatia by stepping on them. The first person to break the sapatia would rule the household. The twist here was the size 6 red heels that Yoseph was asked to wear for the ceremony. The audience had a fun time watching him squeeze his much larger feet into the tight heels and funny enough he still managed to break the plates first.

It goes to show that weddings of any size will create everlasting memories! Nadia and Yoseph had originally planned for a wedding of over 150, replanned three times, and concluded the chapter with a wedding of less than 30. Have a great rest of the week everyone and enjoy some of my favourite photos of the day below:

LOVE NOTES

Leslie was organized, efficient, worked with what we wanted, easy to communicate with, and so lovely to work with. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to plan our wedding! She is super knowledgeable about all of the best deals and vendors in the area and was able to create our dream vision with our budget. She took a lot of things off our plate with handling the vendors and everything on the special day making it stress free. On top of taking on all of these responsibilities, she was always so quick to respond. Leslie is the best and we will miss working with her!
